Welcome to the

Gigging-4-Living project

Gigging-4-Living is working to support performing artists – musicians, dancers, and actors – to develop their business skills so that they can build successful and sustainable careers in the creative sector – making use of the multitude of digital platforms that can support their career in a post-pandemic economy.

About Us

The Gigging-4-Living project team is working directly with performing artists to build business acumen within the performing arts sector and to support performing artists who have been disproportionately impacted by the lockdowns and restrictions, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Gigging-4-Living project team is working directly with performing artists to build business acumen within the performing arts sector and to support performing artists who have been disproportionately impacted by the lockdowns and restrictions, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The range of opportunities now open to performing artists to build sustainable careers in their chosen artistic discipline has been profoundly increased by the rapid growth of technology-based platforms and social media channels. National and international markets are now open to almost every individual artist on a scale that has only previously available to a very small, select few.

The range of opportunities now open to performing artists to build sustainable careers in their chosen artistic discipline has been profoundly increased by the rapid growth of technology-based platforms and social media channels. National and international markets are now open to almost every individual artist on a scale that has only previously available to a very small, select few.

While project partners are aware of these opportunities, they are also aware that performing artists are not a homogenous group. Within the performing arts sector there are different sub-sets that will have different needs and different potential opportunities to exploit.

However, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, performing artists have been negatively and disproportionately impacted by the lockdowns and restrictions across Europe. Unable to perform, and to make a living, this has negatively impacted their mental health and wellbeing. As such, Gigging-4-Living also supports performing artists to protect and maintain their sense of well-being in a post-pandemic economy.

In the 24-month lifecycle 800 performing artists drawn from 8 partner countries will have engaged with the tools and resources developed during this pilot project and all partners will integrate the new resources into their core service offering ensuring an exponential growth in usage levels in the immediate future.

Partners are also working to develop and manage a performing arts collective through the proposed community of practice that will be integrated into the MOOC, and this will be used to support future collaboration.

OUTPUTS

Gigging-4-Living partners have developed a suite of unique resources dedicated to supporting performing artists to innovate and transform their art form into a model that can survive in a pandemic disturbed society while simultaneously building the resilience to the threat of mental health stressors.

IO1

GIGGING-4-LIVING has developed a bespoke training curriculum that will have specific modules tailored to the needs of 3 distinct groups, namely; Musicians; Dancers; Actors. The 12 modules are tailored to suit the needs and address the opportunities for each of these sub-sets of the performing arts sector that still pertain despite the impact of Covid-19.

IO2

GIGGING-4-Living is providing a toolkit of resources that focuses on building resilience to promote positive mental health within the performing arts sector. The 4 modules address issues like anxiety, low self-esteem, loneliness and self-confidence.

IO3

The Gigging-4-Living MOOC provides access to the full suite of Gigging-4-Living EduZines and the Interactive Infographics developed.
